Psychedelics

I have seen psychedelics, alongside great integration, help turn lives around from long halls of darkness to joy and vitality. It is pretty well known at this point that substances like this help a tremendous amount of people, and that many cultures all over the world have and do use them in ceremony regularly. 

Psychedelics are a bit like air travel: people do it all the time and it’s usually fine, but when it’s not fine it’s sometimes quite bad. Having a trauma informed facilitator can make all the difference, having someone to co-regulate with, and rely on for not only basic safety but also emotional safety. Preparation and integration are key to a meaningful journey. I focus especially on preparation.

Two things to consider: 

1. It can hurt some people, it’s not a good option for everyone, and for almost all it is beneficial to start slow on a micro dosing protocol. If you are wanting to get blasted to the moon in hopes of it fixing all your problems, I’m not your facilitator. This is a potential part of a path.
2. Some use the term “entheogen”, meaning “bringing forth the divine within” and indicates a shift to sacramental use of these substances. While us westerners pursue psychedelic plant medicines for psychological healing, the separation between physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual is largely absent in Indigenous knowledge systems. Additionally, is it so advanced to scoff at something  our science doesn't understand?  The notion that prayer and offerings to an invisible world is not just for psychological benefit but actually is satisfying for entities that we are closely related to.  These same Indigenous friends happen to tend also not to have our problems of depression, anxiety, loneliness and so on. It is hard for most Western minds to consider that maybe our science is (very) limited. 

As my view and understanding of these medicines has, and still continues to grow, I am finding that the actual ceremony and community around the medicines is indispensable for the long term health of individuals and humanity.  I, like so many, have benefitted profoundly from these medicines and I have chosen to make my assistance available to people interested in incorporating the psychedelic experience into their path.
